About the Interiors series
The Interior series is a photographic collection that documents the insides of household containers. These photographs examine the inside as a privileged place where meaning may be located; a place we aren’t meant to see but often desire to know.
The project is one of several series in which I’ve used everyday objects as surrogates upon which psychological and metaphorical explorations can be imposed. Bottles, boxes, and bags are surgically cut open and documented. Each of these tiny, ordinary spaces has also been inflated in scale; now imparting the overwhelming, sublime experience more often expected from landscape and great architecture. Oscillating between euphoric and incomprehensible, the Interiors continue to produce a wide range of associations, from soft, snow-covered caves and spiraling cloud tunnels to clandestine sewers and endoscopic examinations.
