Framed Family Portraits (#1-5). 30x34". Lambda prints. 2015.
About this series:
My collection of Framed Family Photos is more technologically driven than most of my projects. Here I placed family portraits on a 3D scanner. It was a playful act, as the framed pictures are exactly the type of objects that are doomed to scan poorly – highly reflective and worse, two-dimensional. As I see them, the resulting scans contain ghostly echoes of the portraits locked inside, contrasted by the mathematical certainty of the geometric rendering; evocative of my own connection with distant ancestors.
